John Carucci:

Born and raised in Central New York John grew up listening to classic top 40 giants WTLB, Utica, WABC, New York & WKBW, Buffalo. John became an instant Beatles fan from their first live appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show and till this day still collects Beatles memorabilia.

In high school John did morning announcements, school sporting events announcements, hosted a lunch time radio show over the school’s PA system and was an art major. While attending College at MVCC and HCCC John began his radio career as a part time air talent at WRUN Utica/Rome and over an eight year period worked his way to Operations Manager while hosting a highly rated afternoon show. John made the move to the FM side of the dial when WRCK Rock 107, Utica/Rome became one of the first FM Top 40 radio stations in Central New York.

In the early eighties John made his move to the Syracuse market as Program Director and afternoon host on WKFM. John made a return to the Utica/Rome market as Program Director- morning host at WUUU U-102 followed by his boyhood dream job Program Director-morning show host on Oldies formatted WTLB. In the summer of 1989 Oldies WSEN-FM 92.1/AM 1050 came calling and John made his move back to Syracuse where he still resides. When John is not on the air he hosts weddings and parties for The Great Music DJ Company. John has worked with many nonprofit organizations including floating a raft up the Oswego River to help build the Ronald McDonald House in Syracuse and has volunteered for several trips to New Orleans to repair and rebuild homes damaged by Hurricane Katrina as a member of Operation Southern Comfort.

John is very excited to return to his radio home WSEN The Din0saur at the historic studios in the Inner Harbor to entertain his listeners with the classic top 40 music he grew up to.

 

Morning News with NBC3’s Kaitlin Pearson 

Kaitlin Pearson joined The Dinosaur Classic Top 40 team in 2024 and is the co-anchor of NBC3’s Today in Central New York.

A native of Chatham, New York, Kaitlin is a proud graduate of the S.I Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. Before returning to CNY, Kaitlin spent time in the Southern Tier as a NYS Broadcasters Association award winning evening anchor at WBNG in Binghamton, New York.

Before that, she was in the Midwest as an anchor and reporter at WEEK in Peoria, Illinois where she received a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award and Illinois Broadcasters Association’s Silver Dome. When not on the air, Kaitlin’s favorite thing to do is spend time with her family and friends, exploring the beauty of Central New York.

She loves all things performing arts and takes in musicals and plays whenever she can and also loves to perform in them. She also loves cheering on Syracuse sports teams as a proud alum.

Weather with CNY Central’s meteorologist with Violet Scibior 

Meteorologist Violet Scibior joined CNY Central’s Weather Authority Team in June 2021. You can watch Violet during Weekend in Central New York in the mornings on NBC3 as well as various other CNY Central newscasts during the week, including The Dino Morning Show!

Violet grew up in Utica, NY, where her passion for weather began. Following her dreams, Violet went to SUNY Brockport for a Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology and a Minor in Broadcasting. She also lived in Tampa, FL, for a few months in between college semesters for an internship at Spectrum Bay News 9.

Violet’s first job out of college was at WKTV in Utica, NY, where she worked as a Broadcast Meteorologist/MMJ for two years. Violet has experience covering Tornado Warnings, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings, High Wind Warnings, Winter Storm Warnings, Blizzard Warnings, Ice Storm Warnings, Snow Squall Warnings, and many other instances of severe weather. Violet has done numerous live shots in the field during hazardous weather events, while also using 3D Augmented Reality graphics.

In her free time, Violet loves to explore the city and find the best local spots! She also loves nature and goes hiking, camping, and downhill skiing with her family. She is a figure skater and used to do it competitively. Violet also loves to dance, sing, paint, and play video games. She loves EDM, rap, and indie music. Her favorite movie genre is horror. Her favorite food is Utica Chicken Riggies!

Entertainment News with Jimmy Carter weekdays @ 8:10

Some make their name in front of the mike or camera . . . others do it as a producer, writer or technician. Jimmy Carter has done them all!  Jimmy’s life can best be described as someone who’s been sitting on the front row, from covering Presidents to Hollywood stars and lots of things in between.

Since 1968, at age 15, when he started his on-the-job training at his favorite rock radio station, Carter has taken in firsthand knowledge of what it takes to make a successful radio and television show, from his first radio documentary on the Beatles in ’68 to his Emmy award-winning work as Executive Producer of one of the nation’s most honored television stations, WSMV-TV Nashville. Carter has worked as a street reporter covering civil rights, hurricanes and controversial politics in his home state of Alabama; as a UPI award-winning television news producer at NBC’s Birmingham station; and as producer of “The Scene at Six” on WSM-TV, a winner of virtually every award given to a TV news department (including the coveted Dupont Columbia and Edward R. Murrow). As Executive Producer at CBS’s Houston station, his work included coverage of everything from NASA to major airline crashes, to exciting Texas politics. 

​​Jimmy Carter’s Nashville credits include an Emmy for his public service TV work and multiple Emmy nominations for his news, children’s, sports and public affairs specials. He was the recipient of an IRIS award for his special on the celebrated Iroquois Steeplechase. His affiliation with Barbara Mandrell productions as a writer/producer brought about two of the highest rated specials in The Nashville Networks history.

While maintaining his producing and writing, his work covering Hollywood for the Crook and Chase/Weekend and Weekday shows has taken him all over the world, from James Bond premieres in London to the Academy Awards in Hollywood. Jimmy has interviewed every major film star of the last 40 years . . . Eastwood, Connery, Lemmon, Redford, Costner, Stallone and hundreds of others! His association with all of the country stars of the last 30 plus years gives him firsthand, in-person knowledge of what the stars are doing. Carter is with them, watching them, covering them on a daily basis.​

Dr. Cynthia Roundy is the “Pet Lady” for the Din0 Morning Show and provides information on “Pets for Adoption” from multiple shelters in the Syracuse area! She has been a strong advocate for animals all of her life. 

Dr. Roundy is an alumni of Syracuse University and is a Professor in the School of Business Management at Colorado Technical University. She has additionally authored several articles in the field Management, Leadership and Ethics.
